Orientation and Mobility

The ability of the blind and visually impaired individual to travel independently, safely, and confidently is the goal of the Orientation and Mobility (O&M) program.

A blind or visually impaired person begins their O&M training at our Center by speaking with an O&M Specialist to develop a training program specific to their needs. Goals can be very basic or advanced, depending upon the requirements of the trainee.

Our Orientation and Mobility Specialists focus their training on helping individuals to successfully gain confidence and self-assurance in navigating their communities. O&M Specialists offer additional information regarding dog guides and electronic travel aids depending on the individual trainee’s requirements.
